The Tragic Death of Alexandria Cherry Of Orlando Fl.

The Tragic Death of  Alexandria Cherry Reflects
The Complexity of Difficulties
Surrounding The Family Structure
of Many Young Blacks Today.

So what really matters in this world? Is it the latest hair do, the dinner we ate last night, or our newest luxury item? <h1>Just recently, the body of Alexandria Cherry was laid to rest because she was allegedly raped and killed by her mother’s live in boyfriend.<h1> The saddest part this whole tragedy is today she is dead, yet tomorrow her story will be forgotten.  So what is the life of a beautiful young girl who had her whole future ahead of her worth; a few seconds on the news, a couple of retweets, or some Face book likes?

As a society, we have really dropped the ball when it comes to standing up for something that really matters. We have one of the most powerful tools available to man, and that’s social media. It’s something we could leverage to prohibit Alexandria’s death from being in vain. It’s an opportunity to share her story as a realization of what could happen to a child whose mother is more concerned with her boyfriend than she is with her child’s well being.

It’s a moment of reflection to bring back to remembrance what’s more important in the lives of parents today.  <h2>Alexandria Cherry did not deserve to be raped and thrown out into the woods like a piece of garbage. She was an up and rising professional who, according to sources, maintained a straight A average and had the dream of becoming a doctor. Yet, her life was cut short because of the alleged indiscretion of her mother and the lust of her step-father.<h2>

There comes a time when our children have to become more important than our wants, desires, and needs. They are subject to our choices because they are dependent on us for survival.  They are taught their whole lives to be respectful, don’t talk back, and to withhold their opinions in fear of punishment. Often times they are verbally abused and physically tormented, just because they are in the way of “mama’s or “daddy’s” agenda.

Many of our “little black,” daughters are left fatherless because their daddies are too busy trying to be a kid while in pursuit of the next thing passing by. In the same sense our “little black,” boys are left with women to call dads and little reflections as to how to become a man. It’s an epidemic that’s ruthlessly destroying the endless possibilities that our young people possess.

"The black mother," carries all the weight & the children fall through the cracks of what's missing. . .

Zora Neal Hurston refers to the black woman as being “the mule of the world,” meaning she carries on her back all the things the world has placed on the black man’s back and because he refuses to carry his own weight, he places it on hers.
Tons of black women are carrying the weight of a generation on her shoulders. Very few have experienced the wholeness of a family unit, and great deals for them reciprocate the same broken patterns of family togetherness. Mayor, a self-published news announcer on YouTube, refers to most black women as being, “perpetual girlfriends.”

<h3>Who knows the story of Alexandria Cherry’s mom, and what life events led her to turn the other cheek as sources reveal that allegedly, Alexandria had been molested and raped by her mother’s boyfriend since she was 5 years old and was pregnant by him at the time of her murder.<h3> What could make a mother ignore the evident truth that her precious daughter’s choice to choose her first sexual encounter was snatched from her before she was old enough to understand what sex was.

I don’t apologize for posting this message next to the latest hair do, my next business venture, or what someone ate for dinner tonight. I don’t apologize that I couldn’t just click a like button, and forget that Alexandria Cherry was a real person, who didn’t deserve to die the way that she did.

I don’t apologize for believing that there is still hope for our daughters, our sons, and for our people as a whole if we just WAKE UP!!!  I don’t apologize for believing that this is our problem and that we should not just turn the other cheek when this young girl is lying dead because we aren’t looking head on.

The pathway that led to Alexandria Cherry's unfortunate and premature death is the reality of many of "the girls next door."

This isn’t some isolated story that just happened, but rather a real problem that we need to speak out about. This is the reality of many little black girls whose mothers look away and whose step-fathers are always watching; this is the story of Alexandria Cherry!  Let her death promote change, let her voice be heard, listen to her story, and let this be your warning . . .
